2015 fighting stupid increase of Housing target to 9,900
Only 200 homes are being built in the borough each year but the Labour cabinet is happy to up the 20 year target to 9,900 homes, that is 495 a year. Developers can win cost from the council if they do not approve this number and have 6 years supply.
2019 won public inquiry against Bellway Phase 3
I was part of group of 6 residents who opposed and extra addition 3rd phase of the Bellway Development off The Long Shoot in Nuneaton. The existing 2 phases were in the local borough plan but a small area was left with the impression given to residents that this could become partly woodland or park area. Instead Bellway applied for permission to build another 75 homes on the site on top of 360 homes that were under construction as part of the local plan. As a group we convinced both Tory and Labour members of the planning committee to reject the application in November 2018. Bellway both appealed and submitted a 2nd application which we again defeated at the planning committee before having a David vis Goliath public inquiry victory this year at which the borough council left us to fight the case alone. Thankfully the planning inspector and Secretary of State decided that the unilateral undertakings from Bellway where unsatisfactory.
